There has been much construction the last few years around the soon to open McLean metro at the intersection of Scotts Crossing and Chain Bridge Rd (Rt 123) in Tysons Corner. While the metro station seems to be pretty much complete, there are plenty of other construction activity.
At Scotts Run Station North (on the north side of Rt 123 next to the new McLean metro station and the Gates of McLean) two new residential buildings have been planned. The old buildings have been demolished and site work for the temporary 700 space parking lot for the McLean metro has commenced.
The Jones Branch Connector at the end of Scotts Crossing will create a much needed additional crossing over I-495. It is to be 2 lanes in each direction and will certainly create a new busy road. While construction has not yet started, approvals are planned for 2015 and completion in 2016.
At the 26 acre Capital One site there is also construction going on. For now it is utilities like gas and similar being run in preparation for their planned 12 high-rise buildings. Those buildings are a few years off still but Capital One is planning to build an office tower for their own use sooner – seems like it will will be 2015.
So, lots of excitement and many projects planned. It is an exciting time for the residents at communities like the Gates of McLean!
