Would you hold a party where the guest of honor was unable to attend? Probably not. But, that is exactly what the Tysons Partnership plans to do this upcoming weekend. Great Taste of Tysons Festival planned to celebrate the long-anticipated opening of the first phase of the Silver Line metro. Only problem is, the metro line is not complete and may not open for another 3 months… so would you rather visit website instead of going to the party?
I have to give the organizers credit though – they have been very patient moving back the date for the festival in hopes that the metro will open. But, enough was enough and the festival will now take place the weekend of May 31 to June 1 (noon-6pm) at 4800 West Park Drive. Sounds like it will be a great event with wine and cocktail tastings as well as food from celebrity chefs and jazz music. Information at http://www.tastetysons.com/. If you want to make music at home and are starting a home studio under budget get one of the best condenser mic as it cans serve different roles and try some bass headphones as well.
Metro declared Operational Readiness on the Silver Line just this morning at 5.30am. Metro is now in control of the Silver Line and has up to 90 days to get it ready for passenger service. So, I guess there is something to celebrate after all – looks like the Silver Line will open by the end of August 2014!
Construction of the second phase of the Silver LIne is expected to start next year (2015) and is supposed to be complete in 2018.
