Bamboozled on Bamboo in Fairfax County

If you own a home in Fairfax County with bamboo on your property, you may be in for a surprise come January 1, 2023. Run amok bamboo has become an issue and the bamboo is difficult to remove and contain. A new Fairfax County ordinance goes into effect on that date, and neighbors can report any occurrences of “running bamboo” coming onto their own property from a neighbor (or bamboo running onto public property.)

Bamboo is a great way to create privacy on your property but going forward you will either have to contain it to your property, get the non-running kind (clumping bamboo,) or face the expenses of having the bamboo properly contained.
