The construction of the Capital One new Tysons headquarters are finally nearing completion and the 470 foot tall office building is (for now) the tallest office building in the area. When fully complete word is that there will be a Starbucks, Taco Bamba and a City Works Eatery and Pour House on the ground level.

Next to the new headquarters a new mixed-use project has already started. It is to include a performing arts center and an urban format Wegmans (expected summer 2020.) Eventually an elevated park and several apartment buildings on top.

There is still a lot of construction remaining though with the construction of a third office building imminent.

The construction at the Capital One campus has obviously impacted residents at the Gates of McLean. Noise, dust, road closures and traffic jams have been the norm for the last few years. The constructions of the Scotts Crossing overpass has also permanently altered the access to and front appearance of the community.

Long-term the construction will make the area and community more attractive. The developemnt will bring some sorely missed amenities within walking distance of the community – Wegmans in particular. The new Scotts Crossing connector road also creates a great alternate route that allows you to avoid Rt 123 to jump onto I-495 or just get to Tysons Corner quickly. Lastly, there are 17 new unreserved parking spots and four EV chargin stations coming to the community.
The Gates of McLean is a great community in a fantastic location. There is currently a lot of construction going on but with the headquarters building and the Scotts Crossing connctor nearing completion the worst is hopefully in the past.
